This is the original image downloaded from facebook, very poor quality
Crank up the resolution in Painters "resize canvas" option from 72 to 300, 600, 900 etc pixels per CM, that way you can get very thin and precise strokes for small details on a poor quality source image... anyway its the best way I found yet.
make a sketch using 2B pencil
start painting
so far so good
